Today marks the completion of the 9-day annual international design workshop organized by the Department of Architecture, Chu Hai College of Higher Education. “WHEN EXPRESSWAYS HIT CITIES” is this year’s topic. A total of 100 students and scholars from universities in the United States, Spain, Thailand, South Korea, Taiwan and mainland China joined the programme.

This digital modelling workshop compared the future of expressways in Hong Kong, Bangkok, Taipei and New York. Teams were formed in the workshop to use digital modelling tools to test removal, reuse, or intensification strategies for expressways in those cities.

Led by international scholars and professionals, this international design programme aims at exposing students to international design experience and practice, equipping them to face design challenges in the contemporary architecture and urbanism discourse.
