Chu Hai College of Higher Education organized a ground-breaking ceremony on 12 May 2011 to signal the start of work on our new campus, an area of 1.6 hectares, situated in Castle Peak Section 80 of Castle Peak Highway, Tuen Mun.
We are honoured to have the Secretary for Education Mr. Michael Suen GBS, JP officiated the ground-breaking ceremony. He said the building of the new campus caters to the need of Hong Kong’s social development, especially in the high education sector.
Other dignitaries officiating at the ground-breaking ceremony included Executive Council member, Legislative Council Member, and Heung Yee Kuk Chairman Mr. Lau Wong-fat GBM, GBS, JP; Director-General, Bureau of Hong Kong Affairs Mr. Jaff J.J. Yang; Deputy Director General, Taiwan Affairs Department, Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government Mr. Z.M. He; Supervisor of Chu Hai College of Higher Education, Dr. H.P. Kong; Partner of OMA, Mr. David Gianotten, as well as President of Chu Hai College of Higher Education, Professor C.N. Chang.
Over 300 guests, alumni and students attended the ground-breaking ceremony. The new campus consists of two parallel horizontal buildings, each eight stories high, offering flexible spaces for classrooms, studios, and offices. The two slabs are connected by communal facilities such as a library, cafeteria, gym, and lecture theatres. With a larger area, the new campus will serve 4,000 students a new friendly and inspiring study environment. Construction of the campus is expected to complete within two years.
